The Story

Lattafa's Pride line has produced some of the most interesting Arabian fragrances in recent years, and Art Of Arabia III is the 2023 entry built for lovers of warm, resinous orientals. Where Art Of Arabia I is a clean, tea-forward freshie inspired by LV Imagination, the third installment goes in the opposite direction: frankincense, dates, tobacco, and myrrh over a rich vanilla-labdanum base. Aromatica carries the Art Of Arabia III decant in Bangladesh in all four sizes.

Fragrance Notes

Top: Olibanum (Frankincense), Davana, Bergamot

Heart: Dates, Tobacco, Sandalwood, Tuberose

Base: Myrrh, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Labdanum, Patchouli

The Scent

The opening is resinous and slightly sweet. Frankincense arrives first with its smoky, woody warmth, flanked by davana's fruity-herbal sweetness and bergamot's citrus polish. There is an immediate Arabian character to the first few minutes that sets this apart from most designers and even many niche releases. Davana is the note that surprises most first-time wearers. It adds a boozy, slightly fermented fruit quality that pairs beautifully with the incense-like frankincense, creating a top that reads both traditional and modern. As the heart develops, dates become the dominant note, thick and dark, almost syrupy in their sweetness. Multiple reviewers compared the date note to the atmosphere of a Middle Eastern spice market, warm and enveloping rather than literal dried fruit. Tobacco sits alongside the dates, adding a subtle smoky dryness that prevents the fruit from reading too sweet. Sandalwood smooths the transition to the base, while tuberose provides an unexpected floral richness that keeps the composition from becoming one-dimensionally dark. The tuberose is a small but noticeable presence, adding a creamy white-floral lift that most oriental fragrances in this price range skip entirely. The base is where the quality of the Pride line shows. Myrrh deepens the resinous character from the opening, bringing a balsamic, slightly medicinal warmth. Vanilla and tonka add familiar gourmand sweetness, while labdanum brings an amber-like richness that one Parfumo reviewer singled out as the best note in the composition. Patchouli grounds everything with earthy depth. Compared to Clive Christian Blonde Amber, which is the most frequently cited reference, Art Of Arabia III reportedly captures 70 to 80 percent of the character at a fraction of the price. Others compared it to D&G The One Luminous Night. Performance is solid at 8 to 10 hours with moderate sillage. Not a beast mode projector, but present enough to leave a warm trail in cooler weather. The overall impression is of a well-blended, approachable oriental that delivers genuine character rather than chasing a specific dupe.

When to Wear

Fall and winter, evening. Dinners, social gatherings, and cooler nights. The resinous sweetness is too heavy for warm weather. Explore the Amber | Resins collection at Aromatica for more in this family.
